Google has done a good job of making me happy this week. First, I thought I was I was gonna have to purge my Gmail acct since it was 97% full, then volla, they up my storage to 10 gbs.
Then today I get the much anticipated email that my Google Drive is live. If you’re not familiar, Google Drive is a revamped Google Docs that allows you to store all kinds of files in the cloud. You can also download a folder to your computer or app to your mobile device that allows you to stay synchronized where ever you are.
We’ve seen them come and go… Blackplanet, Myspace and who knows how much longer Facebook has. Google is already planning its reign as top dog in this arena with its upcoming Google+. So you’re probably wondering what makes it different. It does have a few cool features, most notably for me is “Instant Upload”. Whenever you take a pic one yor phone or mobile device, it will automatically go from your phone to your Google+ account. Then all you have to do is decide whether or not you want to share it. You can also group your friend together so only relevant people are privy to certain convos (but I’m sure Facebook will incorporate these features pretty soon as well). (more…)
In order to survive as a tech company today, you have to remain on the cutting edge. I’d have to say the Acer Iconia ($1,199.00), fits the bill. It’s also powered by an Intel i5 cpu witch will give it enough power to handle business app. Think of it Nintendo DS’s more articulate and mature big brother.
Tablet or a laptop? This is the question that is being posed by many new buyers and the debate about which is best will continue. The advantages of a laptop because of their size and portability are being challenged by the emergence of the tablet or netbook even smaller size. The tablets also compete well with functionality and their smaller size means some can be slipped into a large pocket and be carried very easily. The memory capacity of a laptop is comparable to that of a personal computer with hard drives of up to 250GB but even some tablets are able to have this size of hard drive and are fully functional with either a Windows operating system and often running just the same software packages as other larger laptops and personal computers. I love gadgets as much as the next guy but Apple is definitely not worth spending my evening like this. Ummm, I’ll get a closer look when the madness dies down.
With Wednesday’s announement of the iPad 2, we finally have a complete comparison chart of 2011′s hottest tablets. Everyone is gonna have their favorite depending on what they use their device for. But they all look pretty good spec-wise, so I think it may come down to personal preference.
