After about a day of spotty or no Blackberry data service in North America, it is slowly returning. Millions of Blackberry users had hips that were not buzzing due to a faulty switch that caused outages across several continents. This has been the largest RIM service failure in years. With many customers and investors already losing faith in the communications giant, this was definitely not a good look. Hopefully for their sake (and mine since a I’m a BB fan), this isn’t a sign of things to come.

There are a few hands free bluetooth speakerphones available on the market right now. While they all perform that basic function, some do it well, and others not so much. I was able to get my hands on Freeway($129.99) from Jabra, and i gotta say, i’m impressed. It paired with my phone in about 10 seconds out of the box. Before making or taking any calls on it, i decided to check out the sound quality by streaming some mp3′s to it from my phone. (more…)

Iconic hip-hop producer, Dr. Dre is no stranger to making big deals and making big news. The latest deal was selling of 51% of Beats By Dre to cell phone manufacturer HTC for a cool $300 million. As a part of this move, HTC will be incorporating Beats By Dre audio into upcoming smartphones in much the same way HP did in their products. The acquisition will allow them to improve the sound quality of their phones and future devices when listening to a wide array of media. This shouldn’t effect their current relationship with Monster or other branding partners. Since the announcement of Verizon’s iPhone, there has been a lot of excitement over the personal hot spot feature that will allow you to share your data connection with up to 5 devices. After some consideration, AT&T iPhone4′s will also offer a personal feature. It sounds cool and all, but considering how i’m always hearing complaints about AT&T’s network, I’m wondering if this is really a good a idea…Time will tell.
