I was lucky enough to try out The Monster® iCarPlay® Wireless 250.  Priced at $99.95 ea. it loaded up the bases, but just fell short of bringing it home for me.

Don’t get me wrong, this transmitter has tons of pluses:

  1. First of all you can use it’s car charger (along with your own USB cable) to charge any USB enabled device.
  2. Then it has an automatic station finder.  You tell it to search and it scans your dial to find the best possible station for you to tune your radio.
  3. Another cool feature is the 3 programable stations.  This is great for when you stay within a certain driving range and you know what stations will suit your needs.

Just as I was all set to score, I was let down by the lack of signal strength when listening to my iPod in my car.  I tried it out in the metro Boston area and would get about a minute of music before the over the air radio would break in.  To be fare, Boston is pretty populous when it comes to radio station.  But whatever the reason, i wasn’t able to fully enjoy this product.  Sorry Monster®.

I will give it bonus points though for being so freakin’ pretty.  Everyone love a pretty face, right?
