I know a couple people in the music biz and they like to record ideas on the fly ’cause who knows where inspiration might come from, right?  Blue Microphone demoed the their soon to be released Mikey 2 at CEA Line Show in NY.  The iPhone, iPod and iTouch compatible mic turns your mobile device into a mobile vocal booth. It features 3 gain settings so it can be customized to the need and comes with headphones so you can monitor your voice while laying a verse.  Spec wise, it seems like a winner, if you get one before us, feel free to leave feedback.

**UPDATE**

Even though you don’t need to install any software in order for the Mikey to work, Blue Microphone does offer a cool free app that compliments the Mikey called Blue Fire.

“Blue Mics’ free audio app, Blue FiRe, provides high-fidelity recordings in mono and stereo on the iPhone, while allowing users to see the accurate audio waveform in real-time. The Blue FiRe app also features the ability to create editable audio markers and tag recordings with location data, navigation of waveform via double-tap with configurable behavior and more. An FTP upload option straight from the app maintains the quality of the 16 bit 44.1 .wav audio file, without the noticeable change in quality when converted to mp3.”
