I was able to get my hands on a couple Logitech webcams and put them to the test and show you that price is not a factor that should keep you out of the digital video game. The two we’ll be looking at today are the C200($29.99) and the C600($69.99).
The C200 is an entry level web cam, but it is sure to provide the budget conscious consumer with enough features to get the job done. It has a built in mic and takes advantage of Logitech’s trademarked RightSound, which means background noise is not an issue. It suppresses, the noise of the kids in the next room or your co-worker in the next cubicle so only what is supposed to be heard is heard.
Features:
- VGA sensor (640 x 480 pixels)
- Video capture: up to 640 x 480 pixels
- Photos: up to 1.3 megapixels (software enhanced)
- Video capture up to 30 frames per second (with recommended systems)
- Built-in microphone with Logitech® RightSound™ technology
- Hi-Speed USB 2.0 certified
- Universal clip fits notebooks, LCD or CRT monitors
- Snapshot button for capturing photos
- Manual focus
The C600, has all the features of the C200, but stepped it’s game up a lil bit. The two biggest improvements worth mentioning are the increased resolution and the face tracking. It now packs a 2 megapixel sensor. if that weren’t enough, the pics can be digitally enhanced to 8 megapixels. And when it comes to video, the C600 is able to record in 720p HD with a 16:9 wides screen aspect ratio. They’ve also made it there is no need to sit entirely stiff while a video conference. This cam cam can track one or multiple faces in order to keep you in your best focus while you wiggle in your seat.
Features:
- True 2.0-megapixel sensor with glass lens and Logitech® RightLight™ 2 technology
- HD video capture (up to 1600 x 1200*)
- 720p wide-screen mode
- Photos: 8 megapixels (software enhanced)
- Up to 30 frames per second video (with recommended systems)
- Built-in microphone with Logitech® RightSound™ technology
- Privacy shade for audio and video mute
- Hi-Speed USB 2.0 certified
- Universal clip fits notebooks, LCD or CRT monitors
- Snapshot button for capturing photos
- Fixed focus
Given that they are very affordable yet the picture quality lets u know that they’re not cheap. They get the Gadget-T stamp of approval.
