iPhones for all!!!

Written on May 15th, 2011 by Gadget Tno shouts

So it appears that all 4 major U.S. cell phone carriers will be carrying the iPhone.  The Sprint(non LTE or non 4G) and T-Mobile (HSPA+ or 4G) versions, dubbed the 4S should be available in time for the holidays.  It’s said that it will look very close to current models, though it will have better cameras and will sport their A5 dual-core processor.  I know a few people who will undoubtedly be very excited by this news.

Sattelite tracking

Written on April 22nd, 2011 by Gadget Tno shouts

Apple made headlines when it was discovered that iPhones and iPads use their built in gps transceivers to track and record their owners where abouts.  Even more disturbing is the fact that the feature can’t be turned off.  Well all you Android os phone users, no need to feel left out.  Apparently Android devices do the same thing.  It’s believed that this info is used for location based add campaigns, but only the manufactures know for sure.

personal hot spots for all iPhone 4s’

Written on January 12th, 2011 by Gadget Tno shouts

Since the announcement of Verizon’s iPhone, there has been a lot of excitement over the personal hot spot feature that will allow you to share your data connection with up to 5 devices.   After some consideration, AT&T iPhone4′s will also offer a personal feature.  It sounds cool and all, but considering how i’m always hearing complaints about AT&T’s network, I’m wondering if this is really a good a idea…Time will tell.

If your the owner of a IPod touch here’s a cool way to get more bang for your buck. Our innovative friends in china have come up with the tphone.   It’s simply a phone case that turns your jail broken iPod touch into a 3G iPhone.  The silicone case incorporates a sim slot, rechargeble battery and usb slot.  It may or may not hit US shores, but either way, I’m sure tons of other companies will follow suit.

Written on August 1st, 2010 by dj boogzno shouts

It?s here folks! The long-awaited jailbreak for iOS 4 is now available and it?s called JailbreakMe. Those of you who?ve been jailbreaking their iPhones for a while will certainly remember JailbreakMe, which is without a doubt the easiest jailbreak ever.
Simply go to JailbreakMe.com from your iPhone and follow the instructions. Really you can?t go wrong with that.

Comex has done a great job by reviving JailbreakMe and bringing back the browser-based jailbreak to the iPhone.

JailbreakMe will work for every iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad starting at iOS 3.1.2. That means that if your iDevice is at 3.1.2 or newer, then you?re good.

I?m in the desert right now and can?t get JailbreakMe to download so I will report more about it as I get closer to civilization?

In the meanwhile, please share your experience downloading and installing JailbreakMe on your iPhone.

GOVERNMENT MAKES JAILBREAKING AND UNLOCKING LEGAL

Written on July 26th, 2010 by dj boogzno shouts

The Associated Press just published an interesting piece titled New Gov’t Rules Allow Unapproved iPhone Apps which seems to announce the legalization of iPhone jailbreaks and unlocks:

Owners of the iPhone will be able to break electronic locks on their devices in order to download applications that have not been approved by Apple. The government is making that legal under new rules announced Monday.

The decision to allow the practice commonly known as “jailbreaking” is one of a handful of new exemptions from a federal law that prohibits the circumvention of technical measures that control access to copyrighted works. Every three years, the Library of Congress authorizes such exemptions to ensure that existing law does not prevent non-infringing use of copyrighted material.

Another exemption will allow owners of used cell phones to break access controls on their phones in order to switch wireless carriers.

This is real big news! Up until today, there was a legal mystery surrounding iPhone jailbreaks and unlocks and even though you owned your iPhone, it wasn’t clear weather jailbreaking/unlocking it was legal or not. It seems it won’t be an issue anymore.

Now the big question is: will Apple be forced to provide a way to jailbreak the iPhone? Can you imagine the irony of the situation?

iPHONE 4 TO LAUNCH IN 17 MORE COUNTRIES

Written on July 26th, 2010 by dj boogzno shouts

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 4 in 17 more countries on Friday.

Apple’s iPhone 4 will be available in 17 more countries this Friday, July 30. iPhone 4 features FaceTime, which makes video calling as easy as one tap, Apple’s new Retina display, the highest resolution display ever built into a phone, resulting in stunning text, images and video, and a beautiful all-new design of glass and stainless steel that is the thinnest smartphone in the world.

The white iPhone 4 has been delayed until “later this year” and there is still a shortage of black iPhones in stores so I wonder how they’re going be able to fulfill the demand. Additionally, iPad screen manufacturer LG said even though it’s currently running at full capacity, the company won’t be able to meet Apple’s demand. That sure is a nice problem to have.
